Hose Manufacturing Centre

The Blackwoods Protector Hose Manufacturing Centre is able to manufacture to order a large variety of rubber, composite and stainless steel hoses complete with ends or fittings to suit specialist applications. Each hose is purpose built to handle the service conditions specified by each customer. Whether that is high pressure or temperature, crush strength etc, a combination of hose material, reinforcing and ends can be manufactured to do the job.

Blackwoods Protector provide a full consultation and quotation service to help specify the best solution to any liquid transfer problem. Our own Hose Manufacturing Centre can manufacture rubber hoses from 13mm I.D. up to 585mm I.D, and in lengths up to 20 metres (it is the only plant in New Zealand able to manufacture 20 metre hoses).

Hose Testing & Management

Blackwoods Protector hose testing and management services has been the pioneer in preventative maintenance service.

In consultation with your key personnel this service has the ability to:

Blackwoods Protector are able to test hoses within petrochemical, food processing, marine, transportation, contracting and manufacturing industries. Hoses tested can cover the full range of industrial applications.

The majority of hoses are hydro-statically tested, however we use a range according to requirements, which include electrical continuity and vacuum or specific customer requested tests. Full certification and tagging can be provided as required.

Power Transmission Services

Blackwoods Protector have been a significant supplier of power transmission solutions for many, many years. Many of the companies which went on to form Blackwoods Protector – Paykels Bros, Kidd Garrett, R B Denniston, Charles Palmer, Nivens etc were dominant providers in the industy.

We maintain a large inventory of belts, pulleys, chains, sprockets and shaft couplings as well as more specialised items such as gearboxes, brakes and clutches. Our branches can help with day to day requirements and more technical product is help in our Auckland distribution centre.

Technical staff are happy to help with recommendations on belt drive design, selection of special purpose chains, the right gearbox for your application or the correct brake for the job.

Steam Surveys

Steam is a highly efficient and widely used medium for process heating that is easily controlled and friendly to the environment.

To ensure your plant operates at optimum efficiency it is vital to regularly test and replace steam traps and equipment to ensure correct operation.

Blackwoods Protector use the TLV Trapman steam trap management system to assess trap operation and condition. This patented leading edge test instrument gives unrivalled results and is the only steam trap test equipment to have been verified by Lloyds of London.
